I’m still an amateur, but hopefully learning as I go. You can read all of my blog entries tagged Photography to find out what I’ve been up to lately.
You can find my photos at my Flickr photostream and iPhone snapshots at iSnapshotter.
I also have a Zooomr site, but there is not much there.

I wasn’t sure where to leave a reply (I’m so new at this whole blogging thing
) You left a comment on my blog about my “photographer of the year” pictures. Thank you for your kind words. About the kit I use, I use both the Canon EOS 300D and Canon 20D with the 18-55mm and the 70-300mm USM. I’m getting ready to invest in a couple more lenses, but haven’t made up my mind yet. Again, thanks for the compliments.

Replying here works just fine
On lenses… I keep wishing that I had the 70-300mm now, since the 200mm maximum that I have, never quite seems to be enough. Since you are into portrait work, I can really recommend the cheap EF 50mm f/1.8 (I posted about it back earlier in the year). Since you’re a pro, you may want to go for something with a better build quality, this one is a little plasticy, although it produces by far the best quality images out of the 3 lenses I have.
My other “wish list” lenses are something that would take me out to the 300mm range, the 28-135 IS, a macro (possibly EF-S 60mm but I’d probably rather get a full EF in case of an upgrade to full frame sensor in the future), and the EF 10-22mm. I’ve seen great results from the latter for landscapes. I just can’t afford the IS lenses that I’d love at the moment… and then there’s the whole question of upgrading bodies, to e.g. a 30D or a 400D… the latter has the cleaning system, but the former is a step up from the entry level… sigh…
Frankly I think your work is spectacular. It shows me that my technique still leaves a lot to be desired, you are producing such stunning images with equipment equivalent to mine… clearly there’s more for me to learn.

Hi Andy
Been reviewing your blog and find it alive, trustworthy and well structured.
I am quite new in the “blog-world” and spend a lot of my time trying to write down experiences & learnings from previouse work experience. Overall ambition with my blog is to aid startup companies / entrepeneurs by sharing and interacting via our common knowledge & by showing professionalism drive traffic to the company I have founded.
I find it very difficult to “spread” the blog and drive traffic to the site – what are your recommendations?
I would greatly appreciate your feedback and comments on this topic.
Best Regards

Hi Andy,
Well, following our chat and your recommendation, I spent some time at Photo Optix in Guildford and now know what I’m getting for Christmas
Hopefully I will be able to put the new toy to good use and rekindle my past interests in photography.
All the best, thanks for being helpful all round (re. work and photography).
Cheers,
John (aka Rut the Nut)
